Baptist Church for Yass: Council approves 'shed'
1:07 PM AEST | Yass Valley Council has passed a development application for the construction of a Baptist Church on Laidlaw Street. The proposal for a church to be constructed using a basic portal frame steel shed design, where the external side and rear walls are colourbond and the front wall a natural brick façade, was passed by councillors on June 25.

12:18 PM AEST | Women aged between 50 and 69 are particularly encouraged to attend the BreastScreen clinic, which will be held at the Yass District Hospital between July 21 and 31. Women over 40 are also welcome to attend.The service is free, and women are encouraged to have a screening mammogram every two years once they reach 50. Women can phone 13 20 50 for an appointment.

Fifty Italians from Avezzano (including a bishop and three priests), 28 Canadians from Newfoundland and a dozen South Africans will arrive and stay in the area from Wednesday, July 9 through to Sunday, July 12.

Golf Club hits the rough, Council chips in
27/06/2008 | The Yass Golf Club has been helped out of an immediate cash flow crisis by Yass Valley Council. Mayor Nic Carmody took the unusual step of authorising a short term loan of $40,000 to the Yass Golf Club as a matter of urgency between council meetings. He did however seek and receive the endorsement of all Yass Valley councillors prior to signing off on the deal.
