Another glorious Saturday afternoon at the old course for the Elders sponsored 4BBB Stroke Championship, resulted in some inspired golf from our cream and up and coming golfers alike.
The cream rose in the overall title battle with current Yass Open Champion Jamie Stanford partnering multi Club Champion Sam Porter to victory in a play off over Mark Holt and Rob Field. Mark is the reigning Club Champion and Rob is the excellent four marker in a purple patch of form.
The up and comers in the form of Damien and Justin Fairbrother stole the limelight again to take the net title by two shots from the combination of Bill Scheffler and Peter Bayley. The Fairbrother brothers were first and second in B Grade last week and with the above performance will need to make an appointment with the handicapper before they tee off again.
Congratulations to our winners and thank you to Elders for their generous sponsorship.

(Dads Army – The Gardening Golfers)
President Doyle asked the troops if they would help with the course gardens – he only had to ask the once. In they pitched and the members will have already noticed a huge improvement to their general appearance (the gardens that is!).
A big thank you to the troops who intend to keep on keeping on. Any member or interested person who feels they are able to contribute to the marvellous facility that is Yass Golf Course should speak with President Doyle or a member of the Board. In these tough times any help to preserve the centre of town parklike course is very much in the best interest of the whole community.
In the Thursday morning nine hole challenge there were eighteen troops front and centre for the early start. Les Puckett made it two wins for the week with his 19pts on a count back from Edgar Mongan and Ken Reidy. Apart from the latter two the other ball comp winners were Dudley Genders and Graham Howlett.
Speaking of troopers Howlett and Genders, it was those very gentlemen who played in the final of the Dads Army Championship. The mystery is that we still do not have a winner. Apparently a rip roaring battle took place with fortunes see- sawing until at the last hole it was all square. Stories of medical appointments, mental and physical fatigue and general confusion over play off regulations have come to the ears of your scribe.
We shall await words of considered wisdom from Captain Wales as to the eventual outcome of this hard fought title.
