The catchy headline is almost a deception. That is unless one is referring to the fabulously talented Robert Field who indeed had ‘two Field days’ last weekend at the old Worth street course. On the Saturday the purple patch four marker produced a stunning sixty-five off the sticks for an A Grade winning 43 stableford points. He then backed up on the Sunday with Club Champion Mark Holt to win the twenty-seven hole Club Foursomes Championship. Outstanding effort that!
Robert’s three-under-par round on the Saturday produced a card that most club golfers would be proud to have as a framed lounge room memento. There was eagle on the 7th; birdies on 3, 15 and 18; and pars on 1, 2, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 17. The blemishes were on 4 and 6 with bogeys. A front nine of 33 and one better on the way home for a 32 to total 65. One of the great rounds of golf at the Yass course in 2008 is deservedly the headline act for this week. Well done Robert.

Saturday Stableford
Sixty-two players fronted on the Saturday for the Stableford Competition on a course lengthened by some timely rain events over the past few weeks. There was little run on the fairways and the greens were holding good approach shots – ideal conditions for the golfer who fancies their ability. Auto Pro Club Foursomes Championship
Both the Men’s and Women’s Foursomes Championships were held last Sunday with good fields in both competitions. Auto Pro kindly sponsored the Men’s Championship and T L Parker and Co the Women’s.
In the Men’s Championship it was that man Robert Field again. He teamed up with Club Champion Mark Holt for the event and they were too good by two shots from the duo of former Club Champion Tim Smith and classy A Grader Peter Timmer.
Robert and Mark produced scores of 37, 40 and a very good par 34 on the third nine of the 27 hole event.
The 27 hole nett winners were the duo of Mick Curtis and perpetual winner Brad Luff. John Brady and Matt Lawrence were a bare half a shot off the pace in second place. The best nett score for the first eighteen holes went to Grant Mather and Denis Morgan with 64.5.

Dads Army
Captain Jack reports conditions were a bit heavy after recent oh so lovely rain. One time farmer Doug Oldfield rejoiced at the memory of winter rain and took home the loot with an unlikely winning score of 16pts. Not surprisingly he had to survive a countback from Ken Reidy who together with Peter Anderson and Ken Burden took home a ball each for their troubles.
The troops will be playing a Two Man Ambrose in this week’s comp followed by a ‘Golf-Pro Cum Chef’ Kirk barbeque.
