It was another big week of bowls for the ladies with pennants, club fours, sports days and the much anticipated trip to Tomakin.
(Pennants)
The Number 5s enjoyed two solid wins over Bungendore, taking the spoils 64 points to 30.
Mandy Scanes, Leanne Goode and Wendy Steel 38 defeated Bungendore 13. This was a friendly game, with Anne Marie Bruce from Yass kindly filling in as lead for Bungendore. Yass dominated the heavy greens and long ends.
Robin Pollack, Elsie Shaw and Jenny Jones 26 defeated Bungendore 17. This was a much closer affair, with Yass surging ahead in the final stages of the game.
The Number 3s were given a bit of a lesson by an impressive Yowani outfit, recording two losses and an overall deficit of 36 points.
Yowani 30 defeated Lorraine Cooke, Bernice Davis and Jess Keith 14. The Yowani team was just too strong on the day.
Yowani 35 defeated Rosie Toms, Helen Barton and Betty Schutz 15. It was another very strong team put forward by Yowani, with Yass having no answers on the day to their great bowling.
(Club pairs)
Wilma Bingley, Rhonda Corcoran, Lois MacGregor and Wendy Steel 25 defeated Rae Bichnell, Robin Pollack, Phyllis Knox and Marlene Goode. The ends that each team won were very even but the difference between the two sides was the multiple counts Wendy and her team were able to record. The Yass outfit scored a five on the third end and four lots of three points throughout the match.
Mandy Scanes, Marion Britton, Rosie Toms and Jenny Jones 22 defeated Margaret Reidy, Thelma Butt, Helen Barton and Betty Schutz 21. Jenny and her team played catch up bowls throughout the whole match and failed to lead the game until the final end. It was a tight game with some very close heads. The 20th end saw Betty and her team hold the lead 21-20. Two magnificent bowls from Marion Britton in the final end saw Jenny and her team hold a match winning lie. The opposition had some close shots to remove the bowls but came just shot to go down in the final end.
