The ladies had a good roll up on both Tuesday and Thursday last week despite the inclement weather conditions.
On Tuesday Mandy Scanes and Thelma Butt 22 defeated Jenny Jones and Margaret Holston 17 in a game of pairs. Mandy and Thelma shot out of the blocks to lead 13-5. Jenny and Margaret fought back, scoring six on the 12th end to hit the lead. After some fluctuating scores, proceedings were all squared up on the 17th end. With only one end left to decide the winners and the board reading 17-17, Mandy and Thelma stepped up and registered a five to take the honours.
Rhonda Corcoran, Lorraine Cooke and Rosie Toms 23 defeated Anne Marie Bruce, Velvy McLeod and Betty Barber 19. Rosie and her team formed an efficient combination. At the completion of 13 ends they held a handy nine point advantage. Momentum swung quickly and only four ends later scores were level 18-18 on the 17th end. Rhonda, Lorraine and Rosie regathered their composure, picking up five shots to their opponents one for the remainder.
Leanne Goode and Wendy Steel 23 defeated Marion Britton, Elsie Shaw and Lois McGregor 16. The early stages of this contest were even. Wendy and Leanne adjusted the length of the jack, which helped them score some multiple counts to spring out to a good lead by the 10th end, 17-5.
The jack had a way of making its own arrangement and the length was shortened. Such a change provided the opportunity Marion, Elsie and Lois needed. Marion’s side gradually clawed their way back into the contest. This didn’t faze Leanne and Wendy, who with some excellent bowling (from skip Wendy in particular) saw the pair take the win.

How great do the new jackets look? Many people have commented on the striking new jackets and how nice they look. But, could those certain ladies who believe those hats they wear are fashionable please get a second opinion. Fashion is everything.
(Trophy Day)
Chris Butt, Rhonda Corcoran and Merv Toms 23 defeated Sue Bedford, Thelma Butt and Wendy Steel 20. A tight opening was reflected on the scoreboard in the early stages, 10-10. A big score of six points propelled Merv and his mates to the front, a position they maintained until the very end.
Leanne Goode, Robyn Pollack and Kath Grace 18 defeated Rae Bicknell, Jenny and Peter Jones 16. Peter and his pals lead at the half way mark 10-8. Kath’s side fought back from the slight deficit and moved into the lead. Accurate measuring from Robyn Pollack, some persistent bowling from Kath, Robyn and Leanne, contributed to their recovery and a two-point win.
Velvy McLeod, Margaret Holston, and Geoff Darmody 21 defeated Margaret Reidy, Lorraine Cooke and Keith Kemp 11. This was an even match up, particularly in the early stages with the scores locked together on 9-9 all on the 10th. Geoff and his playing partners won seven of the final eight ends through accurate bowling from seasoned professional Velvy McLeod and brilliance from Margaret Holston and Geoff Darmody.
Lois McGregor, Elsie Shaw and Noel Bedford 25 defeated Brian Bingley, Rosie Toms and David Cassidy 4. Points were hard to come by for the General Managers side. Lois, Elsie and Noel were a deadly combination together.
Mandy Scanes, Wilma Bingley and Jess Keith 16 defeated Richard Diver, Marion Britton and Col Payne 13. This was a great contest with the teams very evenly matched. The steady hand of Jess Keith steered her team throughout the match and kept them within reach of a victory. On the 16th end we saw Col, Marion and Richard hold a one shot advantage. Cool play from Jess’ side placed severe pressure on the opposition skip. The game was extended after Col played with weight and killed two ends. Mandy, Jess and Wilma handled the pressure, scoring points on the final two ends to take a narrow victory.
Winners of the day were Leanne Goode, Elsie Shaw and Geoff Darmody. Trophies
