See-sawing week in Adele Street

25/06/2008 12:33:00 PM
(Tuesday Social)

Maureen Hall, Rosie Toms and Wendy Steel defeated Velvy McLeod, Marion Britton and Elsie Shaw 12. Elsie and her team took a while to get on the score board and after 10 ends were behind by 10 points, 13-3. Maureen, Rosie and Wendy combined well together to keep their score on the move and enjoyed every moment as they recorded a healthy win.

Jenny Jones, Margaret Holston and Robyn Pollack 24 defeated Rhonda Corcoran, Veronica Lees and Lois MacGregor 12. A massive score on the first end by Robyn and her team saw them skip to a five point advantage. Robyn’s chargers kept plugging away and at the half-way mark held a 14-4 lead. It was hard for Lois, Veronica and Rhonda to score points, mainly as a result of great team bowling from Robyn, Margaret and Jenny.

Winners for the day were Maureen Hall, Rosie Toms and Wendy Steel by the smallest of margins.

(Thursday Mixed)

Lois MacGregor and Kath Grace 15 defeated Wilma Bingley and Richard Diver 12.

Wilma and Richard took control in the early stages of the game and held a commanding 12-4 lead after 12 ends. Lois and Kath scored displayed their never say die attitudes, registering 11 points during the final ends, to record a massive come-from-behind win.

Rae Bicknell and Margaret Holston 23 defeated Brian Bingley and Wendy Steel 14.

Some big scores on individual ends meant the lead changed hands on several occasions. Brian and Wendy jumped out of the blocks, only to see their good work disintegrate when Rae and Marg strung a few good bowls together and stole the lead. On the eighth end Wendy and Brian scored a massive seven shots to leap-frog Rae and Marg. In what was becoming quite an extraordinary series of events, Rae and Marg answered the challenge with six points on the following end. After bouncing back, Rae and Marg maintained control of the match and pulled ahead for a good win.
