Battle of the Bens

7/11/2007 11:07:41 AM
The 2007 Bundaberg Rum Professional Bull Riders Touring Pro Series is coming to an end, with Yass playing host to the second-last tour stop of the season before the nation’s leading riders do battle in the $20,000 Bundaberg Rum PBR Finals scheduled for December in Rockhampton QLD which will ultimately decide the new Australian Champion.

For an Australian bull rider, the PBR is the ultimate goal and competition for them to compete in. Not only do they get to ride against some of the nations best bull riders all in the one competition but what makes the Bundaberg Rum PBR Touring Pro Series events so exceptional is the extreme bulls that take part in the competition.

Come Saturday 10th November, Yass fans are in for a treat as bull riders from around the nation will converge on the township for not only the first PBR Tour stop in the state of NSW but also one of the most anticipated as the “Battle of the Ben’s” go head to head once again in Round 9 of the Bundaberg Rum PBR Touring Pro Series.

The 2007 Yass event is shaping up to be a championship fight to the finish between three of the nations leading bull riders, who are all named Ben. Ben Keliher currently holds down the number one ranking and a very narrow lead over his nearest rival, Goulburn’s Ben Jones and Queensland’s Ben Seeds sitting in third place.

Going into Round 9, all eyes will be on local favourite Ben Jones who is undoubtedly one of the hottest riders on the Tour this year, wowing crowds around the country with some absolutely awesome rides as he prepares himself for a 2008 assault on the PBR USA Tour.

It was back in Round 7 in Collinsville, QLD, where Jones found himself matched up against the current Bucking Bull of Australia, Cloud Nine, the bull that made short work of some of the best bull riders from around the world in the 2007 PBR World Cup on the Gold Coast back in June. Eager to gain the number one ranking, Jones had the 2000-strong crowd on their feet as he mastered this great bull for a massive 91.5 point score and the Round 7 Tour Stop win.

So if you’re looking for a bull riding event that not only showcases the best bull riders touring the country today and an event that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, then Round 9 of the Bundaberg Rum Professional Bull Riders Touring Pro Series in Yass is an event you do not want to miss.

You can also catch all the action from the 2006 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in the big screens at Retravision this Friday from 4pm and Saturday from 11am.
